In a web editor, add some text, select the text, add a link and
immediately discard the link modal. Traceback.
The traceback is a DOM `IndexSizeError`, that error is thrown when the
boundaries of a DOM Range (`document.createRange`) are outside of the
ranged elements. In this context, the error happens because the element
is empty and the range has an end bound set to the size of the selected
text.
Odoo wrap code does some text node split in order to attach the link
just on the selected text. If it correctly re-set the underlying
structure, it does not update the $(editable) structure used to restore
ranges.

Odoo no longer supports python 2, thus some of these helpers can and
have been replaced by python 3 built-ins, therefore there is no need for
them to stay defined.
The removed helpers are:
* izip, imap and ifilter
* unichr, text_type
* implements_to_string, implements_iterator
* string_types, integer_types
* to_native
The python 2 shims have also been removed, and only the python 3 helpers
have been kept, because they can still be usable (i.e. accepting
both bytes and str for functions that can only accept one of the two)
[REM] pyjsparser: remove PY3 shims
They're no longer necessary as Odoo doesn't officially support python 2
anymore.

This commit replaces calls to pycompat helpers that were intended for
python 2 <-> python 3 interoperability for python 3 builtins, as python
2 is no longer officially supported by Odoo.
This includes:
* calls to imap/izip/ifilter replaced by map/zip/filter
* uses of text_type replaced by str
* uses of unichr replaced by chr
* calls to implements_to_string, implements_iterator removed
* string_types and integer_types replaced by str, int respectively
* calls to to_native replaced by calls to to_text
This is done in preparation to the removal of these deprecated helpers
in the following commit.
When using the media dialog, when uploading an image, the image list
refreshes itself properly. This was not the case for documents as it
was... refreshing the image list too instead of the document list. Also,
when uploading a document, it is supposed to be added in the page
directly and the media dialog is supposed to close. This feature was
broken for the same reason: the iframe system of both tabs which were
using the same name.
Bug introduced with https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/abde8bddf8ec45cf12aab59e95c330321158cfba

Firefox may send keys "AltGr" and "Dead" instead of just "AltGr".

This rev. introduces robust helpers to use in the JS tests suite to
interact with DOM and components, and starts using them (almost)
everywhere.
All the helpers are exposed though testUtils.js.
There are 2 kinds of helpers:
1. Assertions
-------------
* assert.containsNone, containsN, containsOnce check that the DOM
(or a specific part of the DOM) contains a `selector`. It
generates a correct error message automatically.
ex: assert.strictEqual(form.$('.o_form_editable'), 1, "msg");
-> assert.containsOnce(form, '.o_form_editable');
* assert.isVisible, isNotVisible check that the DOM has an element
visible or not. They also check that the element is actually in
the DOM (before most tests didn't verify this).
* assert.hasClass, doesNotHaveClass, hasAttrVAlue, check specific
properties of a DOM element, and also validate that it is
applied on a single existing DOM element (before most tests
didn't verify this).
ex: assert.notOk(form.$('button').hasClass('btn-primary'));
-> assert.doesNotHaveClass(form.$('button'), 'btn-primary');
2. Utilities
------------
The goal of the utilities is to centralize the definition of many
standard components and interactions, ensuring that when we
refactor the JS framework, we do not need to change all the tests.
Existing mock utilities (addMockEnvironment, intercept, path,
patchDate, unpatch and fieldsViewGet) are moved to
'testUtils.mock.*'.
Existing DOM utilities are moved to 'testUtils.dom.*'.
New dom utilities are created for opendDatePicker, click,
clickFirst and clickLast. Helper `click` verifies that there is
exactly 1 element visible in the DOM you click on, `clickFirst`
and `clickLast` verify that there are more than one element on the
DOM.
ex: form.$('button').click();
-> testUtils.dom.click(form.$('button'));
New Form utilities: (testUtils.form.*)
clickEdit, clickSave, clickCreate, clickDiscard, all clicks on
the control panel buttons of the form.
`reload` reloads the form data.
New modal, graph, kanban and pivot utils (testUtils.pivot.*,
testUtils.kanban.*, etc.).
New fields utils: (testUtils.fields.*)
* editInput, editSelect: allow to change the value of a field,
using a selector to identify it. They validate that the input
exists and trigger the change event automatically.
* editAndTrigger: allow to modify a field and trigger specific
events after the value change
* many2one (testUtils.fields.many2one.*)
clickOpenDropdown, clickHighlightedItem, clickItem,
searchAndClickItem: use a field name instead of a selector and
do all the complex mechanism to open, filter and highlight
many2one fields.
Joint work with aab, dam, ged, mge, svs and vsc.
* web_editor
- Restore the preservation of Odoo text-muted color (the rule became
!important with BS4 and had thus to become !important in the
preservation mixin).
- Preserve base design in the "new content" menu (which now uses
text-muted). Indeed, in some themes, the "new content" links were not
even visible anymore.

QWeb's rendering currently *requires* that when loading a document
instead of rendering the document itself it will render a sub-node
with a properly labeled t-name. If a view is invoked by id, ir.qweb
will look for a child with a t-name and fix up that t-name such that
the base qweb object will find and render it.
This feature mostly exists for JS compatibility (because a single
document can contain multiple cross-linkable templates, and it was
useful for cross-implementation tests though I'm not sue they're even
checked anymore), and the <template> tag kinda took care of it,
however with a more proper qweb view it becomes more of a liability /
pain in the ass.
Note: turns out there are bits of javascript which read server
templates (???) and need to be altered to correctly handle the lack of
<templates> wrapping.
* web_editor, website_blog
Following the new editor's merge at https://github.com/odoo/odoo/pull/29775,
the media dialog was refactored but the code which used it outside of
the editor was not adapted at all. Also, the selected image was not
saved correctly anymore, making the media dialog useless outside the
editor in the current implementation.
- Adapted SEO image uploading and body image background choice which
were not working anymore
- Adapted blog cover choice and gallery snippet which were strangely
still working even though there were sending wrong parameters during
media dialog initialization
closesodoo/odoo#30416
* web_editor
Following the new editor's merge at https://github.com/odoo/odoo/pull/29775,
the editor dialog and the switches crashed on their use in website.
This is because the merge split some xml files without adapting xml
dependencies... this commit only takes care of code which depended on
'/web_editor/static/src/xml/editor.xml'.
closesodoo/odoo#30408
The refactoring also had to be done in order to create a set of unit
tests.
Each behavior can be tested, including the behaviors performed as a
consequence of keyboard interactions (for instance: Enter, Tab...).
This commit also contains some changes to test_utils that were
necessary given the new structure of the wysiwyg editor.
Co-authored-by: Gorash <chm@odoo.com>
* Creating a new structure by transforming all the plugins in the
library using the odoo inheritance system. Plugins are easier to
implement with the AbstractPlugin to add Odoo behaviors.
* From now on, the methods of the library (in this case Summernote) can
no longer be called by other modules or files. Only the wysiwyg
widgets can access it, to simplify the updating process. The wysiwyg
object serves as an interface.
* Depending on the options the snippets will be loaded or not, the
editor will be in an iframe or not... all of this is transparent from
the outside.
* Regarding iframes, all controllers related to editing have been
removed: the new API no longer needs them. This speeds up loading,
eases testing and removes complexity for the same
features.
PUBLIC FEATURES
There are several public methods on the Wysiwyg class:
* Wysiwyg.prepare (WidgetParent): returns a deferred resolved when the
library (xml, lazy, assets...) is loaded.
* Wysiwyg.getRange (DOM): returns the range (selection in the dom)
* Wysiwyg.setRange (startNode, startOffset, endNode, endOffset): creates
a range (selection in the dom)
* Wysiwyg.setRangeFromNode (DOM, options) that creates a range from an
element (option available to select all, start or end)
A jQuery selector was added: :o_editable, which indicates whether the
current element is editable. That is, if it is contained in a tag with
the attribute 'contentEditable = "true"' or in a tag with the class
o_editable.
Several methods are also present:
* focusIn: makes a focus and places the cursor at the beginning of the
element
* focusInEnd: makes a focus and places the cursor at the end of the
element
* selectContent: makes a focus and selects the content
HTML FIELD
The HTML field can receive different options:
* style-inline: {boolean} transforms a class into an inline style when
saving and vice versa when reading.
* no-attachment: {boolean} prevents the use of attachments (in media
dialog)
* cssEdit: {xml_id} to use a template containing the css to loaded in
an iframe when editing
* cssReadonly: {xml_id} to use a template containing the css to load
into an iframe when viewing in readonly
* snippets: {xml_id} snippets template (can be used with or without
cssEdit)
* wrapper: {template} qweb static template (containing a tag:
id = "wrapper") that will include the content during editing (removed
on save)
MASS MAILING
A widget was created for mass mailing. There are now two fields:
body_html and body_arch.
body_arch contains the code with the class without conversion into
inline style, useful when editing and one with the inline style that is
visible in readonly mode and sent by email.
Advantage: no spreading errors, able to update css/theme, able to do
more changes when converting to inline style so that a maximum of mail
clients have an impeccable rendering.

The refactoring of the wysiwyg editor and 'html' field allows us to
move some of the code that was in web_editor but only used in website or
in mass_mailing. Some parts are still in web_editor but will be
moved at a later time.
* portal, web_editor
Anchor Link:
- Some visual improvements of the link dialog.
- New 'Page Anchor' field.
- System by default: top and bottom.
- Shows existing anchors.
Creation of the anchor:
- New option 'Anchor Name' to be able to create an anchor.

Commit https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/52ec536cef2ec84af0b36746f19a8cdf9f23fe2a
made a mistake which made the backend use the website colors. This is
because the web_editor app adds its bootstrap_overridden.scss file in
both backend and frontend assets as the backend needs the editor colors
(alpha, beta, ...). However, the 'primary', 'secondary', etc that the
backend customizes should not be overridden by the web_editor. Therefore
the file contained a hack to determine if it is the backend or not...
hack which did not work anymore with the new system the mentioned
commit implements.
Also some comments were not adapted correctly by the mentioned commit.

* portal, theme_bootswatch, web, web_editor, website
With less2sass and bs3tobs4 tasks, the assets structure was reviewed to
handle the specificities of both framework and to prepare for our next
odoo tasks. In particular, the assets_helpers and bootstrap overrides
were basically split into 4 parts: utils, primary variables, secondary
variables and bootstrap variables.
(see https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/6e4db7d13a926845bf82f5b035afede42d6d5a89)
Using the !default system for the bootstrap variables parts seems now
a good improvement. This is part of what this commit does: adding the
default flag for all bootstrap variables overrides and inverting the
order of the files in the _assets_backend_helpers and
_assets_frontend_helpers templates. This allows to avoid code like this:
portal:
```
$body-bg: white;
```
website:
```
@if $var != null {
$body-bg: $var;
}
```
This code makes the body white with portal or equal to $var with website
if $var has a value. The same behavior in the new file order is achieved
with:
website:
```
$body-bg: $var !default;
```
portal:
```
$body-bg: white !default;
```
This order is now also followed for the _assets_secondary_variables
templates (there are only a few).
This commit also make better assets hierarchy by making website inherit
from portal assets (instead of web) and portal inherit from web_editor
assets (instead of web) (thus relying on strong dependencies instead of
installation order which is not always right for migrated databases).

Check that it makes custom binary fields into attachment as that's the
main reason for the change: when users create binary fields via Studio,
they're necessarily db-stored (as the interface doesn't allow altering
the attachment attribute and it's unclear how we'd handle users
switching it on/off every time), which significantly bloats their
database (and burns storage & backup space), especially as the primary
use case for binary fields is adding images and documents to records.
* check that binary fields are properly created as attachment=True
* add attachment=False on fields where that seems relevant (most but not
all of the fields previously using the default)
* remove occurrences of attachment=True

Firefox when asked to block format (formatting over a block with
blockquote, h1, ...) has a special case for blockquote (it is documented
in https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/API/Document/execCommand at
formatBlock command) and will wrap any element instead of replacing
existing block formatting.
Thus the code not expecting it was not able to remove a blockquote in
firefox once introduced.

closes#28587
When we for example do ctrl+a in firefox, the selection is over the
container and not the content.
This is an issue when we apply a format, since the container could be
removed.
eg:
we have selection over `<pre>hello</pre>`, on firefox the selected
node is `pre`, on chromium it is `TextNode "hello"`.
if we remove the style, `pre` is deleted so firefox selection is
broken, whilst chrome has no issue since "hello" still exist.
There was also an issue when the selection was over the blockquote,
there was no error but the style could not be removed.

In mail template a link with reference such as:
${object.user_id.signup_url}
are often used.
These are template directives that are replaced when the mail is saved,
so when editing in the editor and they are prefixed by "http://" this
breaks the link which is not wanted.
Now link beginning with `${` are not prefixed anymore to prevent
shooting oneself in the foot.
