In a multiwebsite environment, (de)activating some theme views produces
undesired results if the same view exists in different ways for different
websites.
With this patch, we search before for a website-specific view with the provided
key, and fall back to the XMLID-found one if there is no specific view.
This commit closesodoo/odoo#17970
Before this patch, if some view had both `inherit_id` and `website_id`,
its inheritances were being applied even in different websites.
After this patch, if a view inherits from another, inheritances will only apply
when both views belong to the same (or none) website.
Refactoring based on the pr #17635
This closesodoo/odoo#17635
Since commit https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/0e08e653cd47e6ef00cf041d774ddec4b83431c1:
The animation 'component' feature was introduced and allowed to define
smooth animation (like the parallax one) thanks to particulary named
methods. This feature was dangerous and ugly and does not match our
convention requirements anymore (in particular adapting a regex to camel
cased method names will be subject to lots of error). Also, during the
website refactoring introduced with https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/2972976962617d4b8a0113bae58c640ab41cdff8,
errors were found that were due to this feature. Indeed, it happened
that some existing method names were matched by the regex (as a simple
'on_click'). This feature was also 'slowing' (by a very slow amount)
the page loadings for no good reasons.
The animation 'component' feature has been renamed to 'effect' and
instead of naming methods with particular names, all the effects'
options can now be simply described in the special 'effects' key of
snippet animations.
Now that we're closer to switching to P3 for good, these helpers have
outlived their usefulness, and mostly add noise.
All remaining dict.iter*() or dict.view*() must be converted to the
normal keys(), values() or items() calls.
Whenever the result is likely to be used for more than the scope of a
loop, or when the dict needs to be modified during iteration, the calls
must be wrapped in a ``list()``, to protect the new P3 semantics.
Those cases are very exceptional.
Also removed some dead code or improved the API to remove unnecessary
conversions.
* remove references to basestring & unicode (use relevant pycompat
helpers)
* remove some str calls (either entirely or replaced by relevant
helper, either text or native)
* use better API to avoid unnecessary conversions
* remove some XML declarations in views
* StringIO removed from stdlib, replace with io
* try to correctly handle BytesIO/StringIO (one is for bytes the other
is for text)
* fix base64: Python 3 removed bytes-encoding and bytes-bytes
codecs (via #encode) so replace all calls to str.encode('base64'),
also b64encode is a bytes->bytes conversion so attempt to properly
handle that

This commit reviews the whole "JS side" of the web_editor and website
apps. This is a first step to be able to improve them with new and
better functionnalities; this commit is not supposed to change any
visual behavior.
The main goal was to achieve a structure similar to the backend one.
Now, the frontend side also has a root widget (like the WebClient)
and all other widgets are attached to it one way or another. This allows
the benefits of using the 'trigger_up' functionnality for example.
As RPC are now mainly done with the `this._rpc` functionnality (being
possible thanks to the parent hierarchy), the frontend will also be
possible to test thanks to QUnit in a future update (besides the "text"
editor side which still requires a refactoring to be able to do that).
---
Here are some of the changes:
(-) conventions and documentation
The code has been updated to follow JS conventions and a lot of code has
been commented (around +2000 lines of comment). This also means that
lots of functions have been renamed to use camelCase or simply to make
their name understandable.
See https://github.com/odoo/odoo/wiki/Javascript-coding-guidelines.
(-) deprecated: web_editor.base
The "web_editor.base" module has been split and does not force the
modules which require it to wait for DOM ready anymore. This was indeed
slowing loading times, but also prevented to use some modules in some
contexts (see the LESS editor use in web_studio which is the subject of
another task).
Now the "editor context" can be got thanks to the "web_editor.context"
JS module with its "get" function.
The "web_editor.base" module should probably not be used anymore (see
its code and recent updates).
(-) new: web.dom_ready
If a JS module should wait for the DOM to be ready to be executed, a
new JS module has been created: "web.dom_ready". This should always
be used in a module which only want to instantiate stuff. Do not
extend (or worst, include) classes after DOM ready.
(-) website.website
The "website.website" module has been split. "website.website" does not
return anything useful anymore, it just initialize some miscellaneous
stuff, without waiting for the DOM to be ready. You might want to check
"website.utils", "website.content.compatibility" or `WebsiteRoot`. Also
`website.form` has been deleted (use `this._rpc`), so has been
`website.error`. `website.prompt` will be removed in a future update to
be replaced by `Dialog.prompt`.
(-) widgets are great
Many classes which were not widgets are now widgets. This allows them to
use the 'events', the 'xmlDependencies' and the 'this._rpc' features for
example. Here are some of the main ones:
- Snippet options: these were classes with a `$el` for the menu element
and `$target` for the customized element. This is still the case
but following standard `Widget` structure (one exception: using
`this.$(...)` searches in the `$target` as before this update).
- Snippet animations: instead of class instances with a `$target`
element which can be `start` and `stop`, these are now standard
widgets which can be `start` and `destroy`. `this.$target` is
an alias to `this.$el` for ease of compatibility.
- Snippet editors: instead of class instances in charge of an editor
overlay, these are now widgets. Each "child" snippet editor is
properly attached as a "child", which allows editors to communicate
and to be properly destroyed.
(-) root widgets and website navbar
The frontend is different of the backend. In the backend, the page has
an empty <body/> element and all the components are instantiated from
parent to children (i.e. the `WebClient` is instantiated and is in
charge of instantiating the `ControlPanel`, etc). The frontend cannot
work like that on page loadings as they are way more frequent than in
the backend and we do not want them to flicker. A frontend page is
loaded as a <body/> element which already contains the website navbar
and its menus and the whole content page. JS code has to be "attached"
to these existing elements. This is possible thanks to the `RootWidget`
instances and the specialized `WebsiteRoot`, `IframeRoot` and
`WebsiteNavbar` (see code for details).
(-) lazy loading
No more (or at least a lot less) XML/JS has to be loaded on page
loading, thanks to the use of the `Widget.xmlDependencies` feature.
XML which have to be lazy loaded is loaded only on related Widget
instantiation if necessary, which allows to execute a lot of JS code
before the DOM is ready and to start many widgets on DOM ready (not
later). A visual benefit of this is clicking on the 'edit' button as
soon as it is possible: before this commit, this was sometimes not
doing anything as event handlers were not binded yet.
Still a possible exception: loading the session and locales. This may
be asynchronous stuff which is still required before widget
instantiations but this will be the subject of another task.
(-) deprecated code and code location
More than reviewing code and organizing it, many apparent dead code was
removed. More importantly, mislocated code was put in the right app.
This is the case for snippet animations which is a concept for website
apps but was defined in the web_editor app, or some translation concepts
which were part of website but should have been part of web_editor.

There are probably more things to say about this commit but I will let
the comments speak for those.
Dominican team is focused on Transifex traductions using es.po,
as es_DO.po has a lot of issues in the website and reviewed strings
with wrong wording and mixing english and spanish. From now on
Dominican Republic will inherit es.po and just make specific changes
on github just in the needed words or setences that change base on
region.
Closes#18834
This commit moves the whole customer portal to the portal module.
It now completely uses portal and http_routing features and is not
dependent on website anymore.
An override of web controller is added in portal in order to redirect
portal users to /my instead of /web. That way once having the customer
portal installed all share users are correctly redirected to their
account.
All modules defining customer portal templates and controllers are
updated accordingly.
website.layout is now based on portal.frontend_layout template. Using
inheritance it adds and replaces various nodes in the portal template
in order to have the same behavior in website as before.
Let us completely support auth_signup_token and auth_login in request
session and parameters in the auth_signup module instead of in various
separate places.
As customer portal will be moved to portal module support of pager
has to be moved previously to the various portal moves. This commit
moves the pager code and template to portal.
Compatibility using website-based pager is provided to avoid having
to update all website addons currently. Future commits will make
addons use the portal pager instead of website pager.
Code managing language in URLs and redirection is moved from website
to http_routing. Override of _dispatch in website now consists in adding
website to the request.
url_for and is_multilang_url tools methods are also moved from website
to http_routing.ir_http as those are required for the moved code.
Some renaming is performed on request attributes previously added in
website. Indeed as website keyword may be misleading now a renaming
has been performed to better understand them :
* request.website_enabled -> request.is_frontend
* request.website_multilang -> request.is_frontend_multilang
* request.httprequest.cookies.get('website_lang') -> ('frontend_lang')
* first_pass variable in _dispatch is replaced by a new attribute of
request, routing_iteration, that is the number of routing iterations
currently done
ir_http override in website manage languages through methods or attributes
directly defined on website model. Those methods are get_languages method
and default_lang_code attribute. In order to be able to have a translation
layer independent of website we have to have access to this data without
depending on website record.
This commit solves this by adding class methods on ir_http override
located in http_routing. Basic implementation comes directly from website
default methods _active_languages and _default_language. Website overrides
those methods in order to be based on website values defined through
language_ids and default_lang_id for available languages and default
language.
Website behavior is therefore untouched whereas http_routing implements
a basic default behavior. This commit updates ir_http code in website
to use those methods and ease next commits which will move parts of that
code.
Slug and unslug API is now available in http_routing. Indeed there is no
link to any website or any reason to not support slufigied URLs when
website is not installed. A new unslug_url method is added as a tool
coming from an embedded method from website. Doing it allows to have all
slug related methods defined at the same point.
Support of slug and unslug in qweb rendering is also moved directly in
http_routing version of ir_ui_view instead of website inheritance. This
is done in order to keep things coherent.
Some code from website about ModelConverter is also moved. Indeed both
versions of ir_http uses some kind of placeholder to store the uid
when converting urls to python. This commit unifies it by using the
website one directly in base to simplify the override.
This commit also updates all module importing slug. Enterprise modules
will have to be updated, see related commit.
This module adds required base code for a fully integrated customer
portal. It contains the base controller class and base templates.
Business addons will add their specific templates and controllers
to extend the customer portal.
This module contains most code coming from odoo v10 website_portal.
Purpose of this module is to allow the display of a customer portal
without having a dependency towards website edition and customization
capabilities.
Some CSS files used in frontend assets are already moved to have a
working portal skeleton. A is_public method on users is also added
as it will be used in various portal code soon.
To reproduce:
- Go Website Admin > Configuration > Settings
- Change the Website Name
- Click on 'Cancel'
The name is saved.
When the "Cancel" button is clicked, we automatically save the record
(which is a transient model). Since the field is a related to the
company, the name is changed even if we canceled.

Opening a modal in Odoo should be done thanks to the 'Dialog' class. In
the frontend, there can also be modals which are meant to be shown to
the unconnected frontend visitors and those should then get the style of
the website (bootstrap) and not the one of odoo. To manage this, the
website JS code was extending the Dialog class so that it adds the
'o_website_modal' class on modals which are opened thanks to the class.
The LESS code was then in charge of forcing the Odoo style on those.
This behavior is not the right one. "Visitors" modals should also be
able to be opened with the Dialog class. This commit is a first step
towards to the right behavior:
- The standard 'Dialog' adds the 'o_technical_modal' class on its root
element by default and allows to not put it thanks to 'technical'
options.
- 'o_website_modal' is then replaced by 'o_technical_modal'.
What should be done next is:
- Use the Dialog class when it is possible
- Move modal.less in the common assets and make it style only technical
modals -> remove some forcing of the style on 'o_technical_modal' in
the frontend
This behavior also allows future improvements, like building a
completely different structure for technical modals which would allow
better designing and the end of visitor/technical bootstrap conflicts
(and so LESS efficiency).
