Former implementation tried to retrieve the model in the 'model' and 'res_model' attributes of the widget, but both of them were undefined. The model being required for some of the RPCs performed by the widget, there were bugs (e.g. the messages weren't refreshed after the creation of a new activity).

If you are a developer you may type the following command at your terminal:
wget -O- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/odoo/odoo/master/setup/setup_dev.py | python

To add the odoo-dev remote use this command:
$ ./setup/setup_dev.py setup_git_dev
To fetch odoo merge pull requests refs use this command:
$ ./setup/setup_dev.py setup_git_review
