task-1878607
Before this commit, some views appeared broken on mobile.
We don't consider this as a bug because Odoo is not supposed
to be responsive in Community edition. This feature is only
available on Enterprise.
This commit aims at clarifying this situation by clearly moving
the base requirements to support browsers' responsive to the
Enterprise edition and stating that the Community edition only
targets desktop.
It's important to note that, for technical reasons, some
responsive-related JS/CSS code may still be present in the
Community codebase but they are not meant to provide any
explicit or implicit support for responsive/mobile devices.
Technically speaking, this commit removes the viewport meta tag.
This change will then force the "desktop-like" rendering even on
small screens for the Community edition and will keep the current
behavior (scaling/zooming on small screens) for the Enterprise edition.
By doing this we do not let the users think that something is broken
and must be fixed.
So,
in Community edition, desktop is always displayed;
In Enterprise edition, Responsive Web Design is available.
We also had to adapt a test to be able to apply XPath adding
viewport meta tag in enterprise.

1/ Write a form view with a o2m field that has its own inline tree view
(no other view exist in db for the target model)
2/ Open that view in a mobile environment
3/ Instead of having a list view, you get a kanban view. No luck for
you, since the default kanban generated by `models.py` is an empty one,
your records are *invisible* \o/
From what I can tell, the previous condition made no sense:
```
if (there is a list view and a kanban view) <-- this seems absurd
then (use the list mode)
elif (there is no list view but a kanban view)
then (use the kanban mode)
else (use both modes)
```
The first condition seems absurd: it *actively* ignores a kanban view
if there is one. Even better, the list view whose existence it checks
is never there: it checks for a `tree` when it should be checking for a
`list`. In short, the first condition was *never* met, and you ended up
either with exclusive kanban mode or with both modes - even if you had
no existing kanban view for the target model...
This commit moves the normalization of `tree` into `list` before
attempting to process the x2many field's subviews. It clarify the usage
of `tree` vs `list` (cf. only use `list`) which prevents weird edge
cases like described above.

Changed the information dipslayed by the confirmation modal in multi edition
in list views.
Before this commit, the modal simply showed a one-line message with the amount of valid records.
Now, there are 3 elements:
- If all of the fields cannot be changed, a first line warns the amount of valid records.
- A second (or first if all fields can be updated) line ensuring that the user is aware of
the occuring changes.
- A table displaying the affected field and the updated value (readonly widget with the new value).

Commit 4d64e553b8 introduced an 'mt-3' in the address layout of the
external background layout to fix a problem related to the display of
phone numbers.
That fix introduced an error with the pingen external post service. It
requires the area where the destination address is printed to be blank,
due to the mt-3, the background image was visible instead of that blank
area.
As removing solely the mt-3 doesn't break the first problem and solve
the second, it is safe to remove it.
Before this commit, no message was logged to help finding out why the
test was failing.
The `requests.raise_for_status` method raises an error on both 400 and
500 status code. We don't want the test to break in case pingen screw
up their side so 500 errors are just logged. 400 errors still raise an
exception.

The mobile-specific code relies on the size of the browser <= SM
(currently 767px).
But when phantomjs was used to run the JS tests headlessly there was no
way to force that size for the mobile test suite (e.g. when running from
the command line, runbot...). The only solution was to mock some
variables (isMobile, size_class) in web.config to force them to
mobile-like values (see commits odoo/odoo@9bc5009481 and
odoo/odoo@497dfb6917).
Since the switch to Chrome Headless the browser size is set to a
mobile-friendly size (currently 375x667) when the mobile test suite is
ran. So isMobile is automatically set to true.
The code to mock the web.config has then become redundant.
This commit removes it to only rely on the browser window size for the
mobile test suite execution.
Notes:
When testing manually in the browser it's now required to set the
browser window to a mobile-friendly size. Even if it was already the
case, it will provide a more realistic environment and allows to test
important/behavior-related media queries (e.g. clicking on a button only
visible/present on mobile).
BTW the easiest way to run all tests is to execute them directly using
Chrome Headless (except for debugging of course).

An RPC call using an empty array of fields has not the same behavior on
the MockServer and the actual server:
- the MockServer returns only the 'id' field
- the actual server returns all the fields for the model
This is due to the fact that an empty array evaluates to a falsy value
in Python and evaluates to a thruthy value in JavaScript.
This commit restores the parity between the two.

Added an option in the Dialog class to give it a function to run

Its default value is the "cancel" callback if given, or none.

Have a nice ribbon widget to display state of records: part II
SPECIFICATIONS
A POC for a new ribbon widget has been recently introduced at 02fbb737b9.
It adds a ribbon on the top right of a form to make some status more visible
and more user friendly. This commit greatly improves the design of this
ribbon in order to have a real ribbon.
You have to specify the text attribute to show the text on the ribbon.
You can also specify a bg_color attribute to color the background with a
bootstrap background color class according to the business meaning of the
flag displayed in the ribbon.

Because of this, we were handling patched date and unpatched moment

- many2one widget in mobile will open kanban view instead of listview when

- Add support of "kanban_view_ref" on many2x fields:
For many2one fields, this specific kanban view will be opened when you click
on this field. Note that in desktop, the behavior stay unchanged:
'Search More' will open the tree view.
For many2many fields, this specific kanban view will be opened when you add
a record in mobile.
- Add support "selection_mode" in kanban views.
This boolean is set to true when you want to use a kaban view to
select a record instead of open a record.
"selection_mode" is now passed in qweb_context to allow developers
to use t-if='selection_mode' in kanban views to show or hide elements;
buttons, dropdowns, anchor tags are not necessary when selection_mode
is enabled. So those elements can be hidden based on this condition.
Useful when kanban view is opened from m2o in mobile environment.

The reason this widget was moved is that the next improvement
([IMP] base: Configure document layout) defines a new field (FieldColor)
which needs to call the colorpicker dialog inside of the base module.
This couldn't be done while the dialog was located in the wysiwyg assets.
Before this rev. the searchpanel could only be activated in kanban
views (and it was specified in the kanban arch). From now on, the
searchpanel can be activated in any multi record view. It's arch
is moved to the search view arch (inside the <searchpanel> tag).

Note: This is an ugly draft of the final widget, that is supposed

to maintain it over the days.
The final responsive version will come with:

Go to the database manager, configure a password either via the
interface either via the `admin_passwd` `.odoorc` config file. Click on
the backup menu, let the `password` field empty and submit the form. The
modal is closed without any warning and no query is sent.
The problem is that even if the field is marked as `required`, there is
a event listener that catch the `onsubmit` event and close the modal
even if it is not valid.

Now that the debug mode is stored in session, we need a clear indication that
debug mode is activated.
In backend, the 'fa-bug' is doing the trick but in frontend there is no visible
clue that debug mode is enabled.
This commit separate the debug manager code/feature so we can instanciate it in
frontend only with usefull options (such as enable assets, leave debug mode..).
Now, in frontend, people having access to the navbar (o_main_navbar) will see
the same 'fa-bug' icon with minimal options as mentioned above.
Also, in the footer, there will be another 'fa-bug' icon without any options.
It will be usefull when the navbar is not shown, typically the case for
public user, or for portal (without website installed)).
Clicking on it will simply leave debug mode as hinted in tooltip.

As now the debug state is stored in session, the JS framework code and some
templates needed some changes.
First, the debug state is retrieved from session and not the URL anymore.
Second, the debug state does not need to be forwarded as it is now persistent.

This commit goal is to encapsulate every tour-test into a separate assets
bundle that would be called only during tests (command line) or by URL
(debug=tests). That way, a lot of .js files would not be loaded anymore
uselessly outside test mode and will speed up the page loads (especially in the
frontend as the backend do not reload the page anyway).
In order to do that, we needed to propagate the `debug` state from page to
page.
Otherwise, every page change during a test would simply lose the debug mode and
the test would stop as the test assets would not be loaded.
As we could not add the `&debug=tests` on every link (either hardcoded or
preprocess during the rendering), it has been decided to store it in session.
Technical summary:
1. `debug` state (currently only stored in URL) will be stored in session.
Either when adding the `debug` param in URL (handled with _dispatch) or by
starting Odoo with `test-enable` or `test-file` (handled by session init).
2. Once activated (and so set in session), debug mode will remain activated
even if not visible in URL (after a page navigation eg).
To deactivate it, set its value to nothing, `debug=`. That will exit debug mode
(whatever mode it is: debug, assets, tests).
3. As tour-test files are now in a separate bundle, every layout (when needed)
should `t-call="web.conditional_assets_tests"`.
As it would be redundant and verbose, no `t-if` is needed on the t-call to
load it only in test debug mode. That will be handled by
`compiled_assets_tests` that will actually do the conditionnal t-call-assets
to web.assets_tests, if tests debug mode is activated.
4. In addition to separating the tour-tests files in a separate bundle, we also
moved those files to a specific folder under /static/tests/tours next to
QUnit tests.
5. Also, tour files will be moved in a specific folder /static/src/js/tours for
cleanness purpose (those files will still be kept in their 'normal' assets
as needed outside test mode since it is tours).
This will be done in the next commit.
6. It is possible to enable multiple debug mode, such as 'tests' and 'assets'
together. Simply separate debug modes with a comma, eg '?debug=assets, tests'

Before this commit, the final base layout of website was a fully
overridden layout of the one in portal, which was somehow a duplicated
one of the login one in web, which... so lots of duplicated code.
This commit is a first step towards a better organization:
1) The web app defines a frontend layout (to include base frontend
assets), with a base company logo as header.
2) The portal app modifies that layout in place to include the base
header, footer, ... It also uses a primary extension of it for
portal pages.
The survey app simply uses the above layout instead of defining its
own (by primary extension to include its own assets for its own
pages)
Same goes for the rating app and pages.
3) The website app modifies that layout in place to include the UI
assets, to add website UI, ... This allows to create frontend apps
which do not depend on website, with a non duplicated layout that
will be automatically adapted if website is ever installed (this
therefore allows to get rid of website_survey definitely)
This commit also fixes the session info system and the translation URL
on the frontend side to not require to redefine the whole session_info
for portal, website, ... Now the frontend session_info is defined in web
and http_routing extends it to add translation informations, then
website extends it again to add its own elements (not to redefine them
all as before). Note: before, http_routing defined the translation route
but only portal was adding it in its layout...
This is an adaptation of the work that was done with commit
https://github.com/odoo/odoo/commit/99821fdcf89aa66ac9561a972c6823135ebf65c0
Note 1: Many frontend but non-website apps (not only survey / rating)
could probably use this too but this would be the topic of another task.
Note 2: survey currently depends on http_routing but does not add itself
in the list of frontend apps to translate, it probably should.
Note 3: web_editor does currently not depend on http_routing but does
add itself in the list of frontend apps to translate, it thus uses a
function it does not really depend on... to check after its work-in-
progress refactoring.

xml only when a crash occurs (necessary for the frontend as no xml is

All rpc errors/warnings are now displayed using the same modal system as

CrashManager will now return the WarningDialog and ErrorDialog
in addition to the CrashManager itself.
In some cases an instance of CrashManager was created just to
display a warning/error dialog.
In the backend all rpc errors but sessionExpired will be logged.
If the exception is a warning, NotFound (403) or except_orm, it will be
a warning log. The rest will be exception log.
In the frontend all rpc errors will be logged using console.debug
instead of console.warn and console.error. This way we can trigger
rpc errors in tests without failing them. If a real error happend
during a test it will fall back on the backend logger to fail the test.

- Bar rendering
- Switch to another company in mono/multi environment
- Toggle another company in mono/multi environment
- Remove a company in mono/multi environment
The widget itself has been slighty modified to make
it more testable:
- Reading from session is now in the `willStart` function
instead of `init` to allow mocking the session (in tests,
`init` is executed before the mock is applied).
- In the event handlers, don't use `bbq` to retrieve
current allowed company ids. `bbq` is not easily nor
cleanly patched.
- When reading allowed company ids from session, cast
ids from string to integer. They are everywhere casted
except there.

Today, some resources that varies very infrequentely are requested on
every page load: the menus, the translations and the qweb templates
After this commit, there will be 2 improvements that will make the
loading of the webclient faster:
1. cache almost static resources forever
when loading the /web/ page, the user session will
contain the cache key to be used to fetch these resources. As the content
of the resource itself it used to compute the hash, the request can be
put in cache by the browser forever (for a year).
The up side is that in general less requests are needed to load the web client
The down side is that the load time and number of queries of /web page
has increased to include what is needed to compute the hash of translations,
menus and qweb templates
2. trigger the loading of the menus before the download (and startup) of
the JS and CSS assets:
The menus contains the definition of the action, wich is the first thing
needed to load a page in odoo. Starting the loading of the menu much
earlier means that when they are not yet in the browser cache (see point 1),
the browser does not need to wait for the entire assets to be downloaded
and parsed before starting the 'load_menu' request, but instead start it
immediately and hold onto a promise to be used instead of the rpc 'load_menu'.
Because the request is done before anything else is loaded, including
JQuery, it is made in vanilla JS.
