What are the steps to reproduce your issue ?
1. Go to Contacts > Configuration > Localization > Countries > Select a country
2. Edit the 'Layout in reports' (enable debug mode) and add an invalid field
3. Create a Quotation and search for a customer from the country you edited.
What is currently happening ?
Traceback is raised and you can't select the customer anymore
Why is this happening ?
Because the key is not defined.
How to fix the bug ?
Handle KeyError to detect if the user put an undefined key
Handle ValueError to detect if the user put an invalid format key

1) Avoid the storage of all country flags as ir_attachment (230+
ir_attachment in a new db) to reduce the filestore of databases.
The country flags are nearly static and not expected to be modified on
Odoo instances.
This change is based on the new "image_url" widget logic (see previous commits).
2) Extend the flag coverage for countries
Add the missing country flags & specify a mapping to provide flags
for overseas administrated countries/territories.
This provides a better API to search for records by name without the
formatting part (`display_name`).
This also simplifies all the overridings of `_name_search` that no
longer need to call `name_get()`. The call to `name_get()` is done in
method `name_search` in a generic way.
To avoid slowing down search like "{relational_field}" contains "{value}"
we always need to return the lazy name_get() for each [_]name_search method

Multi is the default api for methods, it is not necessary to explicitly
decorate methods with it, adds clutter and most people use it because
they see that the rest of the code uses it.
Done with `find . -type f -name '*.py' | xargs sed -i '/@api.multi/d'`
When creating a new customer, the selection list for the state is empty
unless the country is filled in.
This is an issue since users usually fill the address fields in the
sequential order: street, city, state, zip and then country. Since no
state proposal is displayed, users tend to create a new state.
Introduced in 5fcf891e07.

In the overrides of _name_search we should avoid creating domains with
huge lists of ids as it is inefficient.
We can also make sure that we optimize the empty search as in this case
the custom domain doesn't make sense, we can simply search on an empty
domain and, thanks to the limit argument, still keep a fast query.

When creating a new bank account/partner address, the view displays the 'state 'field before the 'country_id' field, which naturally leads users to select the state before selecting the country.
But there was problem: in order to select a state, one had to first select a country, which was confusing.
Done:
- allow the user to select the state before the country (without restriction on country)
- remove the state from the form when the country changes, if the state (name) is not in the country
- automatically set the country when the state is set
- always display the country code in the name_get of res.country.state, to deal with the case where different countries have a state with the same name
This reverts commit 09a22e3bef, which was
attempting to fix a use case that was actually working.
It also created a duplicate `name_search()` method for res.country, in
addition to the one aliased to `location_name_search()`
It is indeed supported to import countries and states, using the
country code or state code as the imported value. These will be matched
uniquely thanks to the special `name_search()` performed for import,
forcing the `operator`.
And this is done while still allowing proper auto-completing for normal
UI case, where the "exact code match" will only promote an extra result
at the top of the suggested matches, rather than limit the results to a
single match.
The confusion apparently stemmed from the test case using "UK" as the
country code. UK is not a valid ISO country code, so it would never
match as expected.
Purpose
=======
The method _name_search and _search add support to search as another user.
All the overrides of name_search and search redefine the behavior of the search.
This bring inconsistencies as the result of a call to _name_search and name_search
could differ on certain modules, which is not acceptable.
Specification
=============
Example:
~~~~~~~~
If the name_search method is overridden to search also on the driver name,
then calling name_search with a label 'JF' will return all the cars with a name containing
'JF' or all the cars with a driver name containing 'JF'. Let's say that we have a ir.rule
preventing a user to read the cars of another company. Then the call to name search only returns
the cars satisfying the previous condition AND belonging to his company.
Now, we want to overpass this constraint. We call _name_search with the attribute name_get_uid=1.
Then the call to _name_search returns all the cars from all the companies with a name like 'JF',
but nothing is done about the driver_name.
Example of wrong search redefinition on a model
-----------------------------------------------
@api.model
def name_search(self, name, args=None, operator='ilike', limit=100):
domain = args or []
domain = expression.AND([domain, [('name', 'ilike', name)]])
partners = self.env['res.partner'].search([('name', operator, name)])
if partners and name:
domain = expression.OR([domain, ['|', ('driver_id', 'in', partners.ids), ('driver_id', '=', False)]])
rec = self.search(domain, limit=limit)
return rec.name_get()
Example of correct search redefinition on a model
-------------------------------------------------
@api.model
def _name_search(self, name, args=None, operator='ilike', limit=100, name_get_uid=None):
domain = args or []
domain = expression.AND([domain, [('name', operator, name)]])
partner_ids = self.env['res.partner']._search([('name', operator, name)], access_rights_uid=name_get_uid)
if partner_ids:
domain = expression.OR([domain, ['|', ('driver_id', 'in', partner_ids), ('driver_id', '=', False)]])
rec = self._search(domain, limit=limit, access_rights_uid=name_get_uid)
return self.browse(rec).name_get()
The same logic should be applied on the overrides of the search method.
