When re-launching Odoo on an existing database in Python 3.6[0] it's
possible that the scheduler will preempt the main thread
mid-module-import and run the cron thread which causes registry (and
module) initialisation with only a subset of the Python files loaded
and thus e.g. tries loading auth_crypt with a registry in which none
of res has been loaded makes for interesting situations.
Delay spawning the cron thread until *after* the registry preload at
least, though I don't think that actually entirely fixes the issue.
[0] and probably in any Python >= 3.3, I'm guessing it's related to
the per-module import locks which replaced the old global lock:
https://docs.python.org/3.3/whatsnew/3.3.html#a-finer-grained-import-lock
though since ir.cron has little reason to import anything it could
also just be Python 3 scheduler changes which allow/cause a
context-switch during imports while the Python 2 scheduler would
not allow that. IDK.
As of P3 socket.error is replaced by IOError and the underlying error
code must be accessed with `.errno `. This also worked in P2, so simply
use that all the time.
Now that we're closer to switching to P3 for good, these helpers have
outlived their usefulness, and mostly add noise.
All remaining dict.iter*() or dict.view*() must be converted to the
normal keys(), values() or items() calls.
Whenever the result is likely to be used for more than the scope of a
loop, or when the dict needs to be modified during iteration, the calls
must be wrapped in a ``list()``, to protect the new P3 semantics.
Those cases are very exceptional.
Also removed some dead code or improved the API to remove unnecessary
conversions.
XMLRPC dumps returns text rather than bytes (for reasons unknown),
which does not suit Werkzeug's WSGI server, we need to encode the
body.
For simplicity and future-proofiness, return Werkzeug responses
instead, Werkzeug takes care of encoding text and passing bytes
through.
* remove references to basestring & unicode (use relevant pycompat
helpers)
* remove some str calls (either entirely or replaced by relevant
helper, either text or native)
* use better API to avoid unnecessary conversions
* remove some XML declarations in views
* StringIO removed from stdlib, replace with io
* try to correctly handle BytesIO/StringIO (one is for bytes the other
is for text)
* fix base64: Python 3 removed bytes-encoding and bytes-bytes
codecs (via #encode) so replace all calls to str.encode('base64'),
also b64encode is a bytes->bytes conversion so attempt to properly
handle that
issue #8530
In case `--db-filter` is not provided and `--database` is passed,
Odoo will not fetch the list of databases available in the postgres
server anymore because it does not have anything to match against this
list. Instead, `list_dbs()` will use the value of `--database` as a
comma separated list of exposed databases.
This allows better security hardening in postgres access rights.
Basically, that means that those commands
$ odoo-bin -d foobar
$ odoo-bin -d foo,bar,baz
are now respectively equivalent to those commands
$ odoo-bin -d foobar --db-filter='^foobar$'
$ odoo-bin -d foo,bar,baz --db-filter='^(foo|bar|baz)$'
The old behaviour can still be used with this command:
$ odoo-bin -d foobar --db-filter='.*'
This patch modifies Root#dispatch() in order to keep the httprequest url
in the current thread's attribute and use if for dumpstacks and the
phantomjs tests remaining requests handling.
Also added a counter in order to avoid looping forever when trying to join unclosed http requests
in phantomjs test suite after a phantomjs failure + added a log.warning in such a case so it's easier to troubleshoot runbot's ir.logging.
The context is not in the kwargs when the integrity error is raised from
a rpc request. So the user lang was lost and the sql error message was not
translated.
The part treating the callable message in sql error is depracated.

Indeed, running the testsuite is not supported in multi-process (worker/pre-fork) mode, for multiple reasons: no multiple/concurrent execution of tests, necessity for in-memory cross-request statefulness (test cursor), etc.
We have no plan to work around these issues, as there seems to be no strong use case.
Our testsuite is mainly focused on the business/framework aspects, and not scalability/deployment aspects - which would require a much more complicated test infrastructure.
``import odoo.addons.foo as bar`` doesn't seem to properly trigger the
import hook in Python 3 (it blows up on decimal_precision and
base). Thus convert *all* examples of that pattern to the more
sensible ``from odoo.addons import foo as bar``.
In Python 2, to raise a new exception but reuse a traceback requires a
special form of ``raise`` (``raise etype, evalue, tb``).
In Python 3, this is now done via a ``with_traceback`` method on
exception objects.
However this requires a bit of trickery as the former is invalid
syntax in Python 3, hence pycompat bridge created via an exec for
Python 2.
In Python 3:
* various builtins and dict methods were changed to return
view/iterable objects rather than lists
* and the separate Python 2 view/iterable builtins and methods were
removed altogether
This is problematic when using these items as list (which the happens
repeatedly in Odoo), but more viciously when iterating *multiple times*
over them (which also happens, which I've messed up multiple times while
writing this, and which is a pain to debug even when you've just created
the issue).
Convert all code using these to semantics-matching cross-version
helper functions to get the LCD behaviour between P2 and P3, and
forbid the builtins via lint.
issue #8530
- RML Reports
- Webkit Reports (most part already removed by 13b9982c62)
- LocalService in netsvc.py
- rename attributes like rml_% to report_%
- rename ir.actions.report.xml to ir.actions.report
- allow rendering directly on an ir.actions.report by calling render method
- remove 'controller' report_type
- remove unused res.font stuff
- remove print_report method in models.py (not used)
- restore removed call to pdftotext process in test_reports
The GeventServer process was not enforcing the
configured memory limits. In the unlikely event
of a service handling hundreds of concurrent
longpolling requests on hundreds of different
databases, this could render the Registry LRU
ineffective in keeping a low memory footprint.
Even after being evicted from the LRU, these
hundreds of registries would still be referenced
by their in-progress requests, so the memory
would not be freed. An Odoo 10 registry can
typically take 15MB of memory, so this could
become a problem.
Problem: the update of custom models/fields is not fully transactional, and may
potentially lead to an inconsistent database. An other problem is creating two
custom fields by writing on a model: if the second one fails, the first one has
been committed without notice. Retrying the request will give an unexpected
error (duplicate field name).
Solution: never commit in the middle of a request. If the changes have an
impact on the registry, then mark it as invalid (with a new flag), and signal
registry invalidation after everything has been committed. If the request
fails, reset the registry. Both registry and cache invalidation are handled
the same way.
In Python 3, `raise` can take:
* nothing (reraises)
* an exception *instance*
* an exception instance `from` a traceback
The Python 2 forms `raise type, instance` and
`raise type, instance, traceback` are deprecated and should be replaced.
