Before this commit:
when reset template, the strategy is
1. write the template value from the data file with_context(lang=None)
(some legacy translations may be kept, if their en_US values were not changed)
2. use the translations in the po file to override current translations
But when a term is not translated in the po file
(for example, all en_UK terms, since we don't have en.po),
the old translation of the term cannot be overridden and reset
After this commit:
Thanks to the new feature introduced in #109858, the translation for a term can
be voided before the step 2
As a result, translations for model translated fields can be correctly reset

Templates could previously be created for abstract models.
The methods are not written with that in mind and most useful ones will
raise an exception when calling them on that template.

In mail, changing the setting "Restrict mail templates edition and
QWEB placeholders usage" to false should remove all users but admins
from the group, including the template user.
Before this commit, you could have weird behaviou such as
1. Disable the restrictiong (group_mail_template_editor in
group_user.implied_ids)
2. Install mass_mailing (group_mail_template_editor in
group_mass_mailing_user.implied_ids)
3. Create a user test with minimum employee roles (still has
group_mail_template_editor as employee)
4. Check the box "Restrict mail templates edition and QWEB
placeholders usage"
-> test still has the template group nothing implied it
The issue was a combinaison of recomputation of implied groups
https://github.com/odoo/odoo/blob/b2f760cae74201d1622e56a0027dae67dcff9e33/odoo/addons/base/models/res_users.py#L1292-L1295
that triggered the synchronisation of groups on template user

By removing the users already in a group, we avoid falling into the
condition added at 121cd0d608 where the default user gets a
group removed, readded, hence added for everybody.

The goal of this revision is to re-use the environment among the
different steps of the registry loading,
instead of creating a new environment for each step.
1. Simply To avoid to repeat the line
`env = api.Environment(cr, SUPERUSER_ID, {})`
multiple times in the code
2. This also allows to share the context among the different
steps. This is not yet used in this revision, but it could
be, for instance to avoid the current repetition to add the keys
`install_module`, in `convert_csv_import` and `xml_import._tag_record`

Purpose is to rewrite value generation as code is messy with a lot of dict
updates, rewriting key on top of existing keys until reaching the final value.
In this commit we better split computation, to have computation that is static
(currently, posting a comment as composer holds final code) separated from
dynamic computation (posting a mass mailing, as rendering is done based on
qweb or inline template value).
It allows to better understand how composer and template fields are used when
sending emails or posting messages. This commit should not change anything
functionally, even if some values are weirdly computed. Future commits will
improve support of composer / template fields, notably through computed field
and less cross computation.
Also split sending methods: do a mailing in batch in case of mass mailing
(allowing commit per batch), and simply loop on records to post a message
in case of comment (or mass post).

Purpose is to try to have code easier to read and to update by having a
common way of sorting / writing code. Reorder some fields definitions and
dictionaries, update docstrings, ... in mail applications or when invoking
mail thread API.
Additional stuff worth noting here
* add some tagged in tests helping debugging / choosing tests to execute;
* in a test about mail generation with server action: correctly check
body_html field, not body which comes from the mail.message inheritance
(currently filled due to a side effect but actual field to check is the
html one);
* add same check on input for ``_render_template_qweb`` as done on other
rendering methods (even if rendering on [False] should be supported);
* move code translation update from specific tests into main test class
(code update due to new translations, followup of odoo/odoo@f8c2b02abe);
Some test linting done here
* reorder mail_render tests, remove some duplicated tests;
* reorder mail_template tests, remove some duplicated tests;

Website: the context install_filename='dummy' is used to prevent
arch_updated from becoming True while updating translations of
ir_ui_view.arch_db (if arch_update becomes True, test_inherit_specific
fails)
Fuzzy search for jsonb translated fields has been adapted in the case of
website. It may require some refactoring later.
Prevent archiving in-use mail servers by displaying an error message that
lists where it is still used, allowing to easily identify what need to be
updated before being able to archive the mail server.
Additionally,
- prevent the use of archived server as a fall-safe
- when duplicating a mailing with an archived mail server, replace mail
server by the default one
Detailed explanation:
1. A check has been added that raise an exception when trying to connect to the
smtp server or send an email when the server is archived.
With that solution,
- testing the connection of an archived server displays an error telling that
an archived server cannot be used.
- if a mail is still sent with an archived server, mail are in error :
"Connection failed (outgoing mail server problem)"
This fail-safe ensures that no mail will be sent through an archived mail server
and that the user will get some feedback about it.
The same fail-safe for the incoming mail server has been added.
Notes:
- the connection will outlive the archiving of a mail server still allowing
to send email through the archived server until the connection is closed. But
connection are not kept for long so this shouldn't be a problem.
- it cannot be tested because the connect method return immediately in test
mode.
2. When a mail server is archived, an user error is raised if it is in-use.
The implementation relies on each module to override the method
"_active_usages_compute" in "ir_mail_server" to complete the list with
user-friendly message describing the active elements that could send mail
through the mail server. This has been implemented for:
- l10n_it_edi: server used to send e-invoice
- mail: optional server configured for template
- mass_mailing:
-- default mail server
-- active server configured for mailing
Mail server are referenced in other elements but are not active anymore, it is
just for temporary or history purpose. Those references doesn’t prevent the
archiving of the mail server:
- mail_message
- wizard survey_invite and compose_message
- res_config_settings

In this commit we introduce a new module ``test_mail_sms`` that holds the
tests for sms application, like ``test_mail`` does for mail. Currently all
sms tests are inside ``test_mail_full``. After this commit code is moved
from ``test_mail_full`` into that module. Full testing module should be used
mainly to test integrations with a lot of submodules and for performance
tests, not testing details of SMS implementation.
We also add ``mass_mailing_sms`` as dependency of ``test_mass_mailing`` so
that both mailing types are tested in the same module. It eases maintenance
and writing of tests. Mass mailing SMS tests from `test_mail_full`` are
therefore moved in ``test_mass_mailing``.
This commit also allows some cleaning in classes used in tests, to have
classes in ``test_mail_sms`` and ``test_mail_full`` that contain everything
necessary to test mail features.

This commit checks that users without the access right 'Template Editor'
are not allowed to add dynamic qweb in the translations of a mail
template.
Old tests have been updated to keep the assertRaises and all the code
that handle the invalidation cache, ... But now we ensure that the
Access Error raised is the expected one.
Original tests was testing that a user without the group 'Mail Editor'
got an access error due to the missing group, but since the commit
1a3e713 the Access Error is because you cannot edit a template that is
not created by yourself.

Jinja as a templating engine was problematic in differents respect:
- introduce external dependency to Odoo (less controll)
- add another templating mechanism in the stack
- specific feature in qweb cannot be reused
- difficulty in rendering easily editable templates
- more knowledge required with no betterment
By replacing jinja with qweb we can now build tools to edit a qweb
that will work with the previously jinja encoded document
(essentially `mail.template` records).
There is a catch however. Some email fields (eg. email_to) used jinja
syntax for rendering dynamic variables (ie. ${object.something} and
${object.something_that_should_not_be_escaped | safe}).
We still want user to use dynamic variables for some char fields (eg.
subject, from, to, ...). We made a new rendering engine called
"inline_template" that will render an expression enclosed by `{{` and
`}}`.
To be able to edit the templates from the backend interface, a
plugin to the Odoo editor has been made for seamlessly edit the
document.
This qweb plugin includes:
- make dynamic variables (eg. `<t t-out="variable"/>`) not editable
(for preventing the user to shoot himself in the foot)
- group and hide related logical branching (ie. t-if, t-elif, and t-else)
in order to see only one at once
- a floating select input to switch visibility of a particular logical
branching

Purpose
=======
Purpose of this commit is to add a new group for the mail template designer.
Goal is to make roles clearer: managers edit templates, users use them. This
commit allow some designers / managers to make email template and to let
others users use those email templates.
Specifications
==============
When this feature is enabled in the Settings page, a new group is required to
modify email templates in a composer like wizard or to make dynamic content.
This allows to separate managers editing / composing templates from standard
users that use them.
If the current does not have this group, the email body will be in readonly
mode if he selected an email template. That way we force him to use the email
template that the manager made.
Technical
=========
New Group
---------
Only users in this group will be able to create / write email template or
to write Jinja code in the mail composer (including other fields like subject
in mailing).
By default, all internal users have this group. Mass mailing users also have
this group as writing mailings is about the same management level as writing
templates.
Mail Composer Mixin
-------------------
In comment mode, the template is rendered and then saved on the body field
so non-"Mail Template Editor" users can load email templates.
But in mass mode, the body of the template is saved and then rendered and
many things change the body (HTML sanitizer, web editor move inline CSS
properties, add / remove spaces...). So in this case, we can not know if
the user changed the body or not. That is why we put the body field in
readonly mode so, it is not modified by the web editor.
Jinja code detection
--------------------
To detect dynamic Jinja content, we compile the template, and we browse the
AST. If we do not have a single "Template Data" node, we assume that the
template is dynamic.
When we detect the template as static, we do not render it. That way we
avoid unnecessary rendering.
Code cleaning
-------------
Move Jinja import into tools so that it is outside of mail framework code.

* fix base64: Python 3 removed bytes-encoding and bytes-bytes
codecs (via #encode) so replace all calls to str.encode('base64'),
also b64encode is a bytes->bytes conversion so attempt to properly
handle that
issue #8530
Currently almost all mail tests run on mail.channel model. Indeed it is
the only model inheriting from mail.thread and mail.alias when having only
mail installed. However channel model have several specific features and
is not totally a standard mail.thread model. For example notification
recipients are computed a bit differently.
Since 4f9105a4ef mail module has a test
model allowing to perform tests on a very simple mail.thread-like model.
This commit make mail tests use this test model instead of mail.channel
everywhere it is possible. Channel model should be used only when tests
are channel-dependent.
Remove unrestricted "read" access. To make code internally using `ir.model`
work, add a private method `_get` on `ir.model` to retrieve the record
corresponding to a model name, without access rights issue.
Change signature of method `get_authorized_fields` to make it use a model name
instead of a model id. This removes the necessity of a search on `ir.model`.
Use convert_to_cache and convert_to_read to format onchange values.
Fix: default value can be a command list, the onchange convert the comand list into a wrong comand list of command list.
Create `message_post_with_template` helper method to factorize the simulation of a mail.compose.message wizard.
Also, fix the generated attachments of mail.compose.message wizard by returning ORM command (6, 0, ids) instead of the list of attachments ids. In order to standardize the behavior of the wizard, and since the ORM support command assignation in onchange api.v8, all the x2many fields of the wizard return a command.
FYI, that was tde's idea !
Main changes :
- mail.notification model is removed. People do not receive notifications
anymore. Instead two ways of following documents exist
- using a channel; messages will be displayed on the channel itself
in a near future commit
- following with its partner; messages will all be considered as
needaction, using a new m2m table. People should receive less
needaction messages by following less records by themselves.
There is no more read / unread state anymore. Instead only needaction
messages are considered. Todo (Favorites) messages still exist, and are
stores on a new m2m table instead of using decorated notifciations.
- the main filter for documents is not message_unread anymore, but
message_needaction. A lot of views and filters have been updated
accordingly.
- the vote feature has been removed
model has been renamed to mail.channel to prepare the slack modeling.
In future commits the mail.group model will be merged with the channel
model from im_chat. The first move is to rename mail.group into
mail.channel to have a model that will unite both features.
Tests have been migrated to the new api to prepare the migration of the
mail module itself. Moreover tests have been cleaned: redundant tests
and unnecessary tests have been removed.
As the base test class in mail is used in other addons, other addons
have been updated :
- portal
- project
- portal_project
- website_project_issue
- sale
- purchase
Future commits will come with somes fixes for issues detected when cleaning
the tests.
