FIX: use the correct API of mail.channel.py to unfollow a channel
i.e.: `execute_command_leave`
FIX: unpinning a channel has immediate effect on the interface
chatWindows are closed, and the inbox is displayed
FIX: unpinning a channel destroys corresponding chatWindows across tabs
It also unpins the channel in other tabs
FIX: python sends is_pinned as part of the channel_info
both at init messaging and in the main bus notification
That way, we can keep track of the synchronization of the pin status
between JS and python

This commit is a significant rewriting of client-side discuss, chatter,
chat window, and messaging menu using OWL. The behavior should be broadly
the same, with some slight functional changes here and there.
From a technical standpoint, the code of messaging is mainly organized in 2
main groups of modules:
- models, which are logical entities that depict the client-side state of
messaging as a whole.
- components, which are in charge of displaying information from models.
This refactoring also introduces new JS guidelines regarding folder structure
(/static) and naming rules for JS modules.

Update the 'createDisuss' helper to be appended to the DOM using 'dom.prepend' to
benefit of its 'on_(attach|detach)_callback' calls. This allows the mail test suite
environment to be closer to the actual action behaviour (having those methods called
each time it is created/destroyed).
Some tests in which these methods were manually called have been adapted.
Also, one of the tests was destroying the action too quickly and exposed an issue
within the Discuss action, in the 'on_detach_callback' method. It has thus been
fixed as well.
1. Test utils helpers adapted to properly instantiate the new Owl control panel
2. New file 'test_utils_control_panel' to create a control panel and use helpers
3. New helper: createComponent (creates a generic component, see jsdoc)
4. Use of the new helpers in the current tests (more in sibling commits)
5. Helper 'addMockEnvironment' is now asynchronous
6. Owl config mode set to 'dev' in test suite (props validation)

General cleaning of some helpers and generic files. The idea is that they are
less likely to be entirely re-written in the near future so this is a way to
keep the code clean, readable and compliant to the current standards. Changes include:
- Use of async/await when possible
- Use of const/let instead of var
- Removal of underscore.js
- Use of native JS instead of jQuery when possible
The logic of the affected code remains the same.
Before this commit, when navigating from test environment (e.g.
page reload), it crashed with following error:
`TypeError: Cannot convert undefined or null to object`
This error comes from mocked bus services in tests: even when they
have been destroyed, they handle the window event 'unload'. They
no longer have a parented parent, so `this.call()` returns
`undefined`, hence the crash.
This commit prevents mocked bus services to listen on window 'unload'
event. Tests must always simulate this window event by explicitly
calling the handler.

The activity view has been refactored and improved so the qunit test
suite needed to be adapted.
More tests have also been added to test new features (progressbar,
schedule an activity, etc.) and the method 'get_activity' has been
correctly mocked (the result was previously hardcoded).
Task 1894990
We want to avoid that a `setTimeout` started in one test has an impact on other
tests. This is especially true with the status update loop. Since mail_service
is used in multiple tests, the safest solution is to patch timeouts everytime
we make a call to getMailServices.
There is no need for an unpatch, the patch become the default behaviour until
the page is refresh at the end of tests.
It is possible to manually add the patch after calling `getMailServices`
```
this.services = mailTestUtils.getMailServices(this);
this.timeoutMock = mailTestUtils.patchMailTimeouts();
```
This can be usefull if we want to get the timeoutMock to simulate time changes.

to ControlPanel/Search view refactoring.
The ControlPanel being now inside the DOM of client actions, those
existing widgets needed to be adapted (in the way they define if
and how they want a ControlPanel, and in the way the manipulate
their DOM as it slightly changed). Tests needed to be adapted as
well.

This commit adds the seen icon next to a message for all channels
except livechat.
It tracks received and seen messages for all members of the channel.
Icon is either 1 or 2 check(s) ('v' or 'vv').
Those are the different states of this 'seen' icon:
ICON: DESCRIPTION:
no check .................. no one has received the message.
1 check ................... some members have received the
message, no one has seen it.
2 checks (greyed-out) ..... some members have seen the message,
some or everyone has received it
2 checks (green) .......... all members have seen the message
This icon is not shown for messages preceding the last message seen
by everyone, in order to reduce visual noise.

This rev. introduces robust helpers to use in the JS tests suite to
interact with DOM and components, and starts using them (almost)
everywhere.
All the helpers are exposed though testUtils.js.
There are 2 kinds of helpers:
1. Assertions
-------------
* assert.containsNone, containsN, containsOnce check that the DOM
(or a specific part of the DOM) contains a `selector`. It
generates a correct error message automatically.
ex: assert.strictEqual(form.$('.o_form_editable'), 1, "msg");
-> assert.containsOnce(form, '.o_form_editable');
* assert.isVisible, isNotVisible check that the DOM has an element
visible or not. They also check that the element is actually in
the DOM (before most tests didn't verify this).
* assert.hasClass, doesNotHaveClass, hasAttrVAlue, check specific
properties of a DOM element, and also validate that it is
applied on a single existing DOM element (before most tests
didn't verify this).
ex: assert.notOk(form.$('button').hasClass('btn-primary'));
-> assert.doesNotHaveClass(form.$('button'), 'btn-primary');
2. Utilities
------------
The goal of the utilities is to centralize the definition of many
standard components and interactions, ensuring that when we
refactor the JS framework, we do not need to change all the tests.
Existing mock utilities (addMockEnvironment, intercept, path,
patchDate, unpatch and fieldsViewGet) are moved to
'testUtils.mock.*'.
Existing DOM utilities are moved to 'testUtils.dom.*'.
New dom utilities are created for opendDatePicker, click,
clickFirst and clickLast. Helper `click` verifies that there is
exactly 1 element visible in the DOM you click on, `clickFirst`
and `clickLast` verify that there are more than one element on the
DOM.
ex: form.$('button').click();
-> testUtils.dom.click(form.$('button'));
New Form utilities: (testUtils.form.*)
clickEdit, clickSave, clickCreate, clickDiscard, all clicks on
the control panel buttons of the form.
`reload` reloads the form data.
New modal, graph, kanban and pivot utils (testUtils.pivot.*,
testUtils.kanban.*, etc.).
New fields utils: (testUtils.fields.*)
* editInput, editSelect: allow to change the value of a field,
using a selector to identify it. They validate that the input
exists and trigger the change event automatically.
* editAndTrigger: allow to modify a field and trigger specific
events after the value change
* many2one (testUtils.fields.many2one.*)
clickOpenDropdown, clickHighlightedItem, clickItem,
searchAndClickItem: use a field name instead of a selector and
do all the complex mechanism to open, filter and highlight
many2one fields.
Joint work with aab, dam, ged, mge, svs and vsc.
The combined domain for moderated messages used to trigger a complex
database query with two OR conditions on the mail_message table.
Unfortunately PostgreSQL seems to be unable to optimize this with
indexes, or to detect that one of the conditions is void (included `AND
FALSE`). On large mail_message tables, this significantly slows down
calls to message_fetch, e.g. 6s instead of ~70ms, while returning the
same results.
As a workaround, move the logic for generating the moderation domain to
the server side, where it can be:
- optimized out when the user is not a moderator
- split into 2 distinct DB queries in order to avoid the pathological
case
After this change, calls to message_fetch with and without messages
to moderate execute in respectively ~50ms and ~150ms, instead of 6s, in
a test database with 25 million messages.
The modified message_fetch signature is backwards-compatible.
+ modified mock server used for the tests, which unfortunately
duplicates most of the business logic.
This commit fixes the handling of the service parameter
in a mocked environment:
- updated docstring: now an object (previously an array)
- no longer used by mocked server (unused parameter)
- enforces default value for this parameter (empty object)

The commit above changes the way threads are rendered: the template
now uses a thread object, instead of a list of messages.
However, it was not handling messages that have been filtered from
the searchview. As a result, it was not possible to filter messages
at all.
This commit re-adds the possibility to filter messages, by providing
information on the domain of the thread in the template.

In the commit above, we added an option to Discuss widget
to render threads specifically for PhantomJS. The reason
for this is that a test was failing, because it needs full
support of CSS flexbox to pass.
However, PhantomJS does not support flexbox very well. As
a result, it was messing with the rendering of threads.
We couldn't make the hack just in the test itself, because
it is already at the moment of rendering the thread that
PhantomJS messes the whole process of the test.
PhantomJS has been replaced with Chrome headless [1], So
the hack is no longer be necessary, as Chrome headless
fully supports CSS flexbox.

With this commit, most threads show an indicator when a member is typing
something. e.g.
"Mitchell Stephens is typing..."
Supported threads:
- DM
- (public & private) channels
- Livechat (Website & Backend)
Unsupported threads:
- mailboxes (e.g. 'Inbox')
- document thread (= 'Chatter')
- support channel (with `im_support` module)
Some technical details:
- This is a mix between 'start'/'stop' and 'regular notify' strategies.
- On typing text in composer: notify 'start typing' to all members of
thread.
- On clearing text in composer: notify 'stop typing' to all members of
thread.
- A member can only notify once every 2.5 seconds to the server when he
starts or stops typing something (throttled, buffered notify call).
- On receiving a message from someone that is typing: determine that he is
no longer typing.
- On non-empty and unchanged composer text for 5.0 seconds: automatically
notifies all members of thread that he is no longer typing anything.
(This is like a 'soft / cooperative sender' timeout).
- On non-receiving a typing notification of someone after 60 seconds:
determine that he is not longer typing something (This is like a
'hard / receiver assumption' timeout).
- When some types for more than 50 seconds straight: notify that he is
still typing something (again and again every 50 seconds).
- When two or more people are typing something (Multi-User channels), it
displays at most 2 typing users (ordering rule: longer typers first):
"Mitchell Stephens, Marc Brown and more are typing..."
- Timing summary:
- Usually 2.5 seconds uncertainty.
- Up to 5.0 seconds uncertainty on typer inactivity.
- Up to 60 seconds uncertainty on typer page reload / browser tab
closed / etc.
Future Improvements:
- Detect page reload or browser tab close with loose of longpolling
connection

Before this commit, this test was failing due to phantomjs assuming that
there could be more messages to display on the screen.
The issues comes from the bad support of flexbox with PhantomJS, and this
test broke when we changed a DIV display with 'flex' instead of 'block'.
For instance, this is the expected values:
thread clientHeight: 960
thread scrollHeight: 1629
message clientHeight: 50
With 30 messages, 50 x 30 = 1500 < 1629 and 960 < 1629, so there are
enough messages loaded with this screen and we are not at the top of
the thread (this is the case when clientHeight = scrollHeight).
However, with phantomJS we have the following values:
thread clientHeight: 944
thread scrollHeight: 944
message clientHeight: 259
As a result, with 30 messages, 50 x 30 = 1500 > 944 (looks like
messages do not vertically collide ?) and 944 = 944 so it assumes
we are at the top of the thread, so it fetches for more messages.
This commit fixes this test by enforcing a special rendering of the
thread for phantomJS.
Unfortunately, we can't simply make the hack on the test only. We
have to make discuss and thread aware of this because they should
adapt their rendering right away
This commit makes a lot of small improvements of the JS of mail and
related modules.
A. Mail Manager
---------------
im_support:
- [REF] Slightly more robust way to determine a support
message, so that it more reliably falls back on
default kind of message (i.e. support channel UUID
should be clearly set).
mail:
- [REF] Improved method names for readability purposes.
Some examples:
- `fetchFromServer` becomes `fetchMailStateFromServer`
- `_initialize{*}` becomes `_update{*}FromServer`
- `_isModerator` becomes `_isMyselfModerator`
- [REF] Use 'template' pattern design to make Include on
Mail Manager much more robust. In particular,
the flow is always as follow:
1. Initialize internal state.
2. Listen on buses.
3. Fetch mail data from server.
- [REF] Improved workflow for thread window workflow
(Shorter & more readable).
B. Mail Tests
-------------
- [REF] Thread Window Tests crashes with clean message when
there are some thread windows open before running the
tests.
C. (Model) Message
------------------
- [REF] Improved method names for readability purposes
(e.g. `isAuthor` becomes `isMyselfAuthor`).
D. (Model) Thread
-----------------
- [REF] Improved `init` parameters on each kind of thread.
- [REF] 'Thread With Cache' has been renamed to 'Searchable
Thread': it embraces all kinds of threads that can
be used with the search view.
- [REF] 'DM' has been renamed to 'DM Chat' (for clarity).
- [IMP] New Livechat model in the backend.
- [REF] No more direct instances of the Channel class: public
and private channels are now 'Multi-User' channels,
while DM Chat and Livechat are 'Two-User' channels:
This change has been made so that instances of classes
always have direct classes as "leaf" in the Class
modeling. It eases making changes to a certain model
without being too constrained by another model.
- [REF] As a consequence of above changed, the method `isChat`
has been renamed to `isTwoUserThread`.
This is to avoid confusion with the terminology
'chat', which is more like a shortcut for 'quick real-
time conversation'. In other words, the property of
'chat' depends of the way to interact on a thread, not
of the intrinsic type of the thread.
Still, some parts have kept the terminology 'chat',
such as in the systray messagin menu.
- [IMP] Added `message_added` and `message_posted` hooks,
which may be useful to easily hook on those events.
E. Thread Widget
----------------
- [REF] Now uses a `mail.model.AbstractThread` for the
rendering of a thread, instead of a list of
`{mail.model.AbstractMessage}`.
- [FIX] Stick thread scroll height to bottom on new rendering,
if it was previously at the bottom of the thread.
- [REF] Option ORDER has its meaning changed: it now refers
to the chronological order of messages in the thread,
in which DESC means 'from top to bottom', while ASC
means 'from bottom to top'.
- [REF] Improved doc on templates, in particular with the
option `ORDER`.
F. Thread Window
----------------
- [REF] Moved more logic to thread windows, which were
previously in Mail Window Manager.
- [REF] Now hides the thread widget attribute. So instead of
`threadWindow.threadWidget.isAtBottom()`, it uses
`threadWindow.isAtBottom()`.
- [FIX] New received messages when not having focus on Odoo
tab should always make the corresponding thread
windows "passive" (i.e. windows that keep threads
unread until click on them).
- [FIX] Blank thread window (i.e. 'New message' TW) correctly
opens Discuss with 'Inbox' when clicking on 'Expand'
Button in the title
- [FIX] Do not display the composer for channels with property
'mass-mailing' set in thread windows.
G. (Website) Livechat
---------------------
- [REF] Some `trigger` have been turned into `trigger_up`.
- [REF] Some logic has been moved to models (e.g.
`{im_livechat.model.WebsiteLivechat}`), from
`{im_livechat.im_livechat.LivechatButton}`.
- [FIX] New messages should be received in real-time. The
longpolling was broken with a recent refactoring on
bus service (6448420c5d).
The purpose of this change is to make the code clearer and testable.
In this change, the 'tab_manager' static object was merged with the bus
cross tab.
Cleaning was done to clearly define private and public functions as well
as handlers. The methods are documented and the constants are now defined
on the class. The bus use the service behavior with 'trigger_up'.
'bus.CrossTab' who extend 'bus.Longpolling' are instantiated by the
bus service.
The class is always instantiated with a parent, or root in the case of the website
(im_livechat), to use the ajax and localstorage services. So the behavior, perhaps
logger or redefined by the parents.
This commit allows the user to link some mail template to activity type
with res_model.
When a activity has template, buttons appears in activity, allowing the user
to send mail based on templates.

Summary
----------------------
The purpose of this commit is to improve the JS code of the `mail` module.
It applies the new coding guidelines and makes some changes on the design
of some modules, such as the old ChatManager module.
Here is a short summary of the changes that have been made:
1. New coding guidelines
- snake_case to camelCase
- prefix private attributes and methods with '_'
- jsdoc on most methods
- one class per module
2. Rename/Merge some classes
- 'chat manager' becomes 'mail manager' (internal) and 'mail service' (external)
- 'chat window manager' is now included in mail manager
- 'thread' widget now named 'thread widget'
3. New model abstraction for mail objects:
- modules 'mail.model.*'
- modeling:
0..1 0..1 * *
ThreadWindow <------> Thread <-------> Message
/ \
/ \
Thread With Cache Document Thread
/ | \
/ | \
Mailbox Channel Support Channel
|
|
DM
- Thread: the superclass of threads.
- ThreadWindow: the window component of a thread.
- Message: mail objects representing messages.
- Thread With Cache: threads that can be used with search view (Discuss app compatible).
- Document Thread: represents the thread part of a chatter.
- Mailbox: represents what was previously called 'static' channel, e.g. 'Inbox'.
- Channel: mail objects representing channels, including livechat.
- DM: special kind of Channel for 1:1 communication in the backend.
- Support Channel: special channel for im_support module.
This new modeling approach let us easily add features on all threads, such as the
possibility to put any thread in a small window.
----------------------
Known issues
----------------------
[Already Present in Master]
1. When the Discuss app is in the background with 'Inbox' as the selected
Thread, when clicking on a document thread preview in the messaging menu
of the systray, the rainbow man appears.
2. When a document with the chatter is in the background, when receiving an
inbox notification from this document thread, the document thread is
automatically marked as read, which removes the notification right away.
3. Sometimes, opening a DM window from the "blank" thread window does not work.
4. Reply-to feature on Inbox is not working: no message is sent in the document
thread.
5. On the first login of admin user with demo data, the inbox counter is wrong
(it displays 6, instead of 3).
Explanation after investigation:
> On page load, it fetches the correct number of Inbox messages (3),
but the server notifies of 3 needaction messages right away,
so it wrongly assumes these are new needaction messages.
> Not possible for web client to detect that these messages should not
increment the Inbox counter while keeping same API.
6. Notifications for new document thread messages only work when the user sets
'handle with Odoo' for the Notification Management in the preferences.
> due to notifications on the longpoll bus for document thread
messages that come from needaction notifications.
> requires server-side changes to send notification on the longpoll
bus to mentionned user.
[New]
7. When receiving a message on a unjoined channel, thread window flickers
('open' > 'close' > 'open')
Explanation after investigation:
> JS logic:
a) On auto-join, ask server to join the channel and get channel infos.
b) The info tells the channel is not detached, but JS code makes decision
to detach it, and tells server the channel is now detached.
c) From (a), server notifies on longpoll bus the state of channel, which is
not detached. The web client thinks that the window state of the channel
has been changed somewhere else, and the channel is now closed.
d) From (b), server notifies on longpoll bus the state of channel, which is
detached. The web client opens the thread window of this channel.
> The flicker didn't occur before refactoring because the web client was only
updating the model of channel when it receives the longpoll notification.
> Server behaviour on 1st longpoll notification is necessary for cross-tab
synchronization for channel window state.
> New design implies that model and view should be synchronized, hence the
issue now.
> Solution: remove server-side thread window synchronization and replace with
client-side synchronization.
----------------------
Hacks
----------------------
The module `im_livechat` now uses mail objects that are compatible with Message
and Window objects:
Modeling for messages:
AbstractMessage
/ \
/ \
LivechatMessage Message
- AbstractMessage: message compatible with the thread widget.
- LivechatMessage: message used by im_livechat.
- Message: message used with the mail manager.
Modeling for thread windows:
AbstractThreadWindow
/ \
/ \
LivechatWindow ThreadWindow
- AbstractThreadWindow: behaviour share between all types of thread windows.
- LivechatWindow: window used by im_livechat.
- ThreadWindow: window used with mail_manager.
The reason for these hacks are twofold:
1. Use the thread widget in the frontend and livechat external lib bundles.
2. Do not have a dependency with the mail manager in the frontend and external
lib bundles.
In the mocked version of the longpolling bus used in tests, the
is_odoo_focused function should be defined to prevent crashes when
we simulate incoming messages.
When a mail is in failure state, a red envelope appears next to the message
in a thread but it was difficult to send the mail again.
This tasks will allow users to send mail again easily, or mark notification
as cancelled if the user want to ignore this failure.
A notification will appear in sender systray while mail are in failure.
Task: #46158
PR: #24628
Before this commit, when we have a notification in the messaging menu (systray)
that comes from a message in inbox which isn't linked to a document
(e.g. a task), clicking on it result in a crash.
This issue comes from a typo of a recent js mail refactoring [1]
Although this is only a 1-line fix, there are no tests on the messaging menu
widget in the systray. Therefore, this commit also introduces some basic tests
of this widget, in addition to the test related to the fixed issue.

The discuss application starting process is strongly asynchronous.
However, it relies implicitely on the fact that the widget is not
destroyed in its starting process. For example, if the widget is
detroyed before the updateChannel method is called, then any call to the
chat manager service will return undefined and the widget will crash.
When discuss is destroyed exactly between the start and the end of the
creation of its search view (which is asynchronous), then it is possible
to have a crash, because the search view will be destroyed when the
do_search method is called.
Note that we had to fix discuss mobile as well:
The _setChannel method is supposed to return a deferred, but the mobile
override did not return it. As a result, a test in the mobile suite
failed because this.alive takes a deferred in argument.

This commit fixes two issues with discuss tests (JS):
1. Improved mocked `message_fetch` rpc
Some tests were incorrectly mocking the `message_fetch` rpc.
With this commit, the mock server correctly mock this route,
so that tests should simply pass the records as data, and the
mock server correctly handles this rpc.
2. Patch `_.debounce` and `_.throttle`
The test "older messages are loaded on scroll" failed with
Google Chrome right after destroying the widget discuss.
This is due to a debounced function that called its inner
function at this moment.
With this commit, any discuss test patch `_.debounce` and
`_.throttle` so that the inner functions are executed
immediately and synchronously.
Before this commit:
Clicking on 'unstar all' button removes all messages from starred channel
but it only decreases the counter as many as there are displayed messages
on screen.
For example, if there are 40 messages starred, only 30 messages
are on screen (default limit) but unstar all will decrease counter
only for those messages instead of 40.
After this commit:
clicking on 'unstar all' button will correctly take in account all
fetched messages and not only displayed messages.
So now, after clicking on 'unstar all' button will update the starred
counter to 0.

Before this commit, when using createDiscuss and performing
discuss.destroy, the parent widget was not destroyed.
This is an issue, because the mocked environment is attached
to the parent widget of discuss. Any call to this.getSession()
is mocked by the addMockEnvironment, and this mocked behaviour
is removed only when the corresponding widget is destroyed.
This commit overrides discuss.destroy(), so that the parent
widget is also destroyed, so that it removes the side effect on
this.getSession() from the mocked environment.
Before this commit, on a clear session, there was a traceback
after focusing out the emoji button next to the composer.
This is due to a DOM element that exists only after clicking on
the emoji button, and it was wrongly assumed that focusout cannot
occur without a preceding click. Indeed, we can press TAB to move
between focusable elements, so that we can have the focus in/out
on the button without clicking on it.
Before this commit, when mentioning a user at the end of a message,
no link was shown.
The cause is that any mention should end with whitespace, but during
the preprocessing of a message, the message is trimmed, which removes
the final whitespace of the mention.
We would like to keep trimming at the preprocessing of the message,
but we can relax a bit the regex to detect a mention, so that it is
not necessary to have a whitespace at the end of a matched mention.
Before this commit, if we wanted to add channels on rpc initMessaging,
we had to mock this rpc completely.
Now, with this commit, we can use data 'initMessaging', whose keys
can overwrite the default mocked initMessaging.
For instance, if this.data.initMessaging has the key 'channel_slots',
then the mocked initMessaging rpc will return a new state for the
existing channels to the chat_manager.
This is needed in order to reduce the size of tests than need some custom
initMessaging state, such as any test that needs at least one non-static
channel (i.e. neither channel_inbox nor channel_starred).
This commit adds a first test of discuss, which checks that the
essential DOM elements are present when we create a discuss widget.
In particular, there should be a sidebar that contains links to
channel_inbox and channel_starred.
In order to test discuss, the service 'chat_manager' has to be ready.
We do not want to explicitly write discuss.call on any test with discuss,
so now the function createDiscuss returns a promise that is resolved with
the discuss widget when the chat_manager is ready.
Discuss has to perform a rpc to fetch messages of its channels.
Some tests do not care of the result of this rpc call, so we mock
it by default (by default, channels have no messages in our tests).
This commit improves the JS code of the mail module,
which comes maily from the new coding guidelines
and the addition of "JS services".
JS services are important objects that do not fit
well in the component tree, such as chat_manager
or ajax.
The benefits of JS services are improved readability
of the code, reduced coupling, and more testable
modules. In particular, discuss was hard to
Summary of the changes:
- ClientAction has been renamed into Discuss
- Clear instantiation of chatManager
- New coding guidelines in most mail modules
- JS Services can interact with each other
- Chat Manager and Window Manager are services
- Window Manager renamed to Chat Window Manager
- bus.bus is now encapsulated in Bus Service (a service)
- The test infrastructure has been tweaked with JS Services
- Chat Mixin has been removed
A future improvement would be to translate some 'trigger' into 'trigger_up'.
